Breeding Systems and Establishment of Ostrich Farms by:Dr Safwat Kamal - Egypt
In summary, the site should be tested for the establishment of the farm, especially the desert lands, as they are cheap and commensurate with the nature, behavior and requirements of ostriches.
The site must be characterized by the availability of unpolluted water suitable for breeding and subsistence, as well as the water suitable for irrigation, in order to grow alfalfa, especially the Hijazi type, on the same farm, due to its importance in the diet and feeding of ostriches, as it constitutes about 75% of the food in all stages of life.
