Egypt is witnessing an unprecedented rise in the prices of eggs and poultry due to the feed shortage crisis, but signs of a solution to this crisis are beginning to appear on the horizon, with the release of quantities of feed found in the ports, which heralds the return of life to this vital sector in the country.

Dr. Tharwat Al-Zeini, Vice President of the General Union of Poultry Producers, confirmed that the prices of poultry and eggs have reached record levels due to the lack of feed, indicating that the crisis is witnessing relative relief with the recent release of feed at the ports.

Al-Zaini explained to the Sky News Arabia website the nature of the crisis of high poultry prices in Egypt:
We warned last October, at the beginning of the crisis, that the poultry sector is a living sector that cannot tolerate half-measures or partial solutions.
Poultry in all its sectors, whether fattening, laying, or mothers, depend on feed as a major component of their survival by up to 75 percent.
