Thank you for the opportunity to participate in the 8th Regional Dairy Nutrition Conference. The first day’s speakers kicked off with Interesting talks by USSEC farmers Stan Barnes and April Hemmes telling us their farming and sustainability story. David Gast’s talks about growing the ideal calf and heifer for peak production potential and discussion of crossbreeding generated quite a bit of discussion. Dr. Mohammed Bakr from Cairo University talked about good practices in Dairy cow Nutrition. His talk about additives and technologies generated spirited discussion. Sirri Kayhan’s TMR formulation and software demonstration showed some of the newer technologies for formulation and utilization of high – quality US Soybean products. I enjoyed being able to speak with the group about heat stress solutions for lactating cows and impacts of heat on the dry and neonate. We had good discussion about mitigating the risks of hypocalcemia. Th one on one discussions post presentation were also informative and networking was appreciated.
