Poultry meat enhances the Ramadan table with an abundance of one million tons, and a self-sufficiency rate of 72%
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture confirmed that poultry meat is one of the main pillars on the tables of the holy month of Ramadan, as local production recorded more than one million tons, which reflects the abundance of the national product and its ability to meet local demand, in addition to achieving a surplus that enhances export capabilities to various countries of the world, and contributes to supporting food security in the Kingdom.
It explained during the "Our Journey from Our Land" campaign, which it launched in conjunction with the advent of the holy month of Ramadan 1446 AH; To encourage the consumption of local food products during the holy month, the Kingdom has achieved self-sufficiency in poultry meat by (72%), which enhances its position as one of the countries contributing to achieving food security, stressing its commitment to developing the poultry sector by supporting local investments and stimulating sustainable production; To achieve abundance that contributes to enhancing self-sufficiency, in accordance with the goals of Vision 2030.
In light of the increased demand for food products during the month of Ramadan, the Ministry indicated that it is working in coordination with national companies to ensure the stability of markets and supply chains, by monitoring production and ensuring the availability of sufficient quantities to meet the needs of consumers, noting that the Ministry is intensifying its oversight efforts by implementing continuous field tours; aimed at following up on the commitment of markets and suppliers to health and environmental standards, and ensuring the provision of safe and high-quality products, which contributes to achieving market stability and enhancing food security.
It stressed the need to preserve blessings and reduce food waste, indicating its commitment to supporting initiatives to preserve blessings through awareness campaigns aimed at promoting a culture of rationalizing consumption, and cooperating with charitable societies to ensure the delivery of surplus food to needy families, in line with national strategies aimed at reducing waste and improving consumption efficiency.
The Ministry also continues to support farmers and local producers through its campaign; With the aim of enhancing local production, and raising food quality and safety standards, which includes the continuity of product availability during the holy month, indicating that these efforts are within the framework of its commitment to achieving sustainable development, and enhancing food security, in line with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
