This type is more resistant to diseases, but it is not suitable for breeding under the intensive production system.
2- Blue-necked ostrich: This type of bird is large in size and is characterized by dense feathers and thin skin, which leads to problems when tanning. This type is less ferocious than the red-necked bird, but it has weak legs. The female lays 20-30 eggs per season, and the resulting chicks are highly energetic and fast-growing. It is found in abundance in Somalia and northern Kenya.

3- Black-necked ostrich: Most countries have turned to breeding this type, which is a mixture of red and blue. It is one of the best types of ostriches in terms of feather color, quality, and skin thickness. It is characterized by its calm nature, except during the mating season, when the males are ferocious, in addition to its abundant egg production, as it produces 60-120 eggs per season. The short legs also reduce injury problems. This type of bird is medium-sized, as the weight of an adult bird ranges from 110-160 kilograms.
