The head of the Poultry Syndicate reveals: Is poultry production okay?
The head of the Poultry Syndicate, "William Boutros", reassured in a statement today, that "poultry production is in good condition, and that chicken and its parts are available in the Lebanese markets in abundance and at low prices," noting that "prices have recorded an additional decrease despite the serious events that Lebanon has witnessed over the past few days."
Boutros pointed out that "poultry farms in the south, specifically in the areas of Hasbaya, Nabatieh and Tyre, are facing some difficulties due to the bombing, displacement, and the challenge of delivering diesel and water to them, which are two essential elements for production. He revealed that this will not affect the sector's ability to provide the market's needs for chicken and its parts."
Boutros appealed to "the responsible authorities to deliver fuel, and pay the necessary attention to farms in the south in order to spare farmers from incurring huge losses and to preserve food security for the Lebanese."
Boutros revealed that "poultry farms in the south were targeted by shelling," noting that "poultry farms are distributed across Lebanon and are mainly concentrated in the north for broiler production, and in the Bekaa for eggs."
Boutros confirmed that "it is natural that the markets have witnessed a kind of rush and an increase in demand during the past two days, especially in areas that have witnessed an influx of displaced people," stressing that "this does not constitute a problem in light of the large availability of production."
