GhassanEdited01“Violence is a scourge that has threatened the security and safety of communities around the world from ancient times to the present day. Responding to violence with violence has been nothing but fuel for an endless cycle of conflicts, revenge, and destruction.” This topic was revolving in my mind as I returned from one of the largest conferences in the world—the 16th European Poultry Conference in Valencia, Spain—which saw great success at a time when fires rage in Ukraine and Gaza, not to mention Sudan, Yemen, and thirty other countries.

The European Poultry Conference brought together 2,500 scientists and workers in the poultry sector from 83 countries around the world and served as a dynamic platform for the exchange of knowledge and innovation, with approximately 580 scientific studies highlighting the latest innovations and research at the highest scientific level reached by the poultry industry. Events like this and other scientific gatherings bring people together from wherever they come and spread friendship, love, and peace. I thought about how proud I am of our participation in the organisation of this event. Proud, as a member of the Middle East Agrifood Publishers family, as Lebanese, and especially as an Arab in such success. Violence only begets violence and can only be fought with peace and the relentless pursuit of the best foundations for human life and food security. I am convinced that we, the farmers, are the best proof of this, fighting with the only weapon we know: work, challenge, perseverance, and determination despite difficulties. My optimism is not based on dreams without foundations but on the presence of more young people filled with new and innovative ideas and driven towards a promising future for the poultry industry, which bodes well for a prosperous future where all efforts unite to provide the best. In a world rife with conflicts, we continue to dream and strive, never stopping or tiring, so that the dream remains the flame that fuels our lives. Hence, we continue to challenge and plan big and new projects on a global and Arab level to unite our efforts, expertise, and cultures in pursuit of enhancing biological and food security, implementing best practices, drawing new lines of hope and optimism, and finding the best ways to use local resources and leverage artificial intelligence to face challenges. Let us all unite—scientists, farmers, and consumers—in building a better tomorrow, where technology harmonizes with nature, life flourishes in balance and sustainability, and poultry fields become a symbol of progress and prosperity. The question remains: Will we see a new horizon emerge before us, carrying with it a bright future for the poultry industry? Will it remain a beautiful dream, or will we or the generations to come witness a world free from wars and conflicts? and conflicts? A world where living is enjoyable and food security and self-sufficiency are ensured? Many questions remain, and the dreams are vast, but the projects continue ... in hope..
